Book Club to Meet July 28

The Ashland Book Club meets at the library on Wednesday, July 28, at 6:00, to discuss Katherine Stockett’s The Help.

Bring a sack supper if you like, coffee will be provided.  All are invited!

Monday, July 5:  Froggy Visits the Library!  Froggy comes in costume and reads, 10:00 am.  Then on to the City Pool for lunch and water fun with Sheriff John Ketron.

Joanne Emerick to Speak April 16

Joanne Emmerick, author of Courage Before Every Danger, Honor Before All Men will speak at the Ashland Library on April 16 at 2:00.

Emerick, historian for the 31st Bomb Squadron,  spent 17 years compiling the stories, diaries and letters of more than 120 men from the squadron, including her father.

Kim Vogel Sawyer to Speak Saturday

Award-winning author and speaker Kim Vogel Sawyer will speak at the Ashland Library on Saturday, February 27, at 2:00.  Kim will be speaking on the theme, “Live Lessons Through Chocolate.”

Kim has written, “As an author of inspirational Christian fiction, it is my goal to create stories that will edify God’s children and offer evidence of the hope we can all possess when we place our hearts and souls in God’s very capable hands.”

Train Show February 12 & 13

February 12 & 13, Friday and Saturday, you are invited to the Ashland Library Train Show from 1:30 to 5:30.    Operating sets and static displays will be provided by the Boot Hill Train Club and the Northwest Oklahoma Model Railroad Club.  A Thomas the Train display provided by Wes Reimer will be available for hands-on enjoyment.

Lunch @ The Library!

Monday, January 18, at 12:00 noon, the Ashland Library will host its first luncheon of the new year.  Country humorist, Jerry W. Engler, author of  Just Folks, A Heartland Voice and Highly Embellished Truth, will entertain.  As Engler says, “I think my stories are better than TV, and not half so nasty as day-time TV.  They continue to be fiction literature, highly embellished truth, complete concoctions or great lies!”

Engler has traveled extensively promoting his books, including engagements at the Kansas Festival for the Book, the Sampler Festival and the Kansas State Fair.

Reservations required by January 15, six dollar donation is suggested to help cover costs.

 

 

Flu Information

Founding of Ashland Program

October 6, at 2:00, the 20th Century Club invites you to a program by Jane Rankin entitled “The Founding of Ashland.”  The program will be held in the Ashland Library meeting room.

Cowboy Coffee Luncheon

 

Monday, September 14 at 12:00 noon, the Ashland Library will host a Cowboy Coffee Luncheon.  A western themed lunch is planned, with a special chili made of locally smoked meats, cornbread, and peach cobbler made in a Dutch oven over a slow fire.  An amusing program by Cowboy Poet Marti Sheetz is planned, with guitar backup by Don Bryant of Coldwater.  A donation of $5 is suggested to help cover costs.
